The Illuminated Journal
Magazine
A living space where art meets spirit.
Welcome to the Umbral
This is not a magazine in the ordinary sense. This is a living, breathing space where the creative process becomes a spiritual practice, and where words are not just read but received.
Dear reader, I have always believed that art is a form of prayer — that every poem, every lyric, every brushstroke is a conversation with something larger than us. The Umbral Magazine is my way of opening that conversation to you. What you will find here, across every issue: BEHIND THE CANVAS The paintings begin as a felt threshold — a color I cannot yet name, a shape the soul is trying to remember. These pages open the studio door: the watercolor bleed, the failed first attempt, the moment a piece finally exhales. What looks like finished art is really a long conversation with light. THE WRITING PROCESS The poems arrive before the words. A line knocks, I follow it into the dark, and the poem is the lantern I bring back. Here I trace how a poem walks from first breath to final line — the revisions I refuse to skip, the silences I refuse to fill. SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS This is the inner threshold — the shadow work, the breathing, the honest accounting with the small self. No bypassing, no polish, no urgency. Only the unglamorous practice of staying present to what is, including the parts I would rather not meet. INSPIRATION & ADVICE Small, doable practices for ordinary life — the commute, the dishes, the long Monday. Guidance grounded in your real day, offered as a lantern you can carry, not a rule you must obey. WHAT TO EXPECT Each issue will carry its own frequency — some bright as the sun, some deep as the ocean, some luminous as the moon on water. All lead to the same place: the understanding that creativity and spirituality are not separate rivers. They are the same river, flowing toward the same sea.
Join me on this journey. Free subscribers receive short luminous pieces to carry with you. Paid subscribers receive the full magazine, exclusive artwork, early access to new music, and private reflections I share nowhere else.
The threshold is open. Step through.
A Quiet Clarification
What Spirituality Truly Is
Before we step deeper, let us speak plainly. Spirituality is not a costume, a doctrine, or a spectacle. It is the quiet, intimate relationship a soul keeps with the Universe — with God, the Higher Self, the Spirit, the Divine — however we name that higher consciousness. It is self-awareness made sacred.
A person drawn to the craft of witchcraft may be deeply spiritual — but not every spiritual soul is called to that path, and the two are not the same. In the same breath: spirituality is not religion, though a religious person may also be spiritual. One is a personal relationship with the ineffable; the other is the tradition that tries to house it. Each can hold the other, and each can stand alone.
Light & Shadow
Light work is the practice of tending to what is luminous in us — gratitude, love, compassion, joy, and the trust that opens the heart. It strengthens what we already know to be good.
Shadow work is the practice of meeting what we have hidden, feared, or rejected in ourselves — the wounded and the unwelcome parts left in the dark. With honest presence, what was buried becomes known, and what becomes known no longer rules us from beneath.
We tend to demonize whatever we do not yet understand. Yet light work and shadow work are equally powerful, equally essential — one illuminates, the other integrates. Together they keep the energy field and the frequency coherent and stable: no static, no confusion, just simple, honest, authentic presence.
A Pillar of a Whole Life
A healthy inner spirituality is one more pillar of a healthy life — beside the body, the mind, and our bonds with others and with self. Paired with honest self-reflection, it is a steady tool for emotional and mental well-being. And a spirituality held in balance with the material world becomes the key to real growth: we evolve into someone more conscious, more confident, more present for others and self — moved by love rather than ego, fear, or selfishness.
Spirituality is not an escape from life. It is the courage to live it fully, awake.

The Waning Gibbous in Gemini: Fractured Reflections
Unmasking the duality between intellectual vanity and the silence of the soul.
“To speak your truth is a sacred responsibility; to speak your ego is merely a noise that keeps you from hearing God.”
